IT's now 2009 and nothing new seems to have developed since mid last year. No progress on an FBO or training center, no deal with Travis Aero club to allow them in to train. NO air shows, marketing or progress towards communication save the one bit coming from Andy in the form of a newsletter. Heck, even the Solano Pilots Association has not updated the website for quite some time. I know for a fact that there are some very influential and smart people involved with airport affairs, the Solano Pilots, the NTAAC and the like. Yet nothing seems to be moving forward. When this Airport was Private it was more widely used and well known than now. With the economy in the toilet and the city and county struggling just to survive why hasn't anyone taken the lead to bring business and revenue in from the airport. And I'm not talking about taxing and raising rates at the airport! (Unless your trying to drive away all the potential business). The bickering of the past and the silence now between all the involved groups needs to stop! County, City, Airport Management and the Pilot Associations need to get together hash out their problems and come up with a viable 5 year plan. The ten year plan has failed miserably for the last 20 years, something needs to be done now, while interest rates are low, land is available and something new and fresh is needed to boost the local economy. (is it a fix for all our problems?, NO of course not, but its a start). Everyone seems to be talking about their great visions for the airport and what it should be.. Well isn't time to figure out how to make those visions a reality no matter how outlandish they may be to some?!

Was by the airport 10/19, FBO looked dead-in-the-water except for some nice landscaping.

If I were you, I would kiss my money goodbye. If the county is not able to collect the 50K in back rent owed by this operator, than how do you expect to get yours? Unless you are talking about a whole lot of money, I would choke it up to a bad experience.

I would like to invite all to come to the SPA meeting at 630pm in the county admin building Thursday night. Mr. Golden from Mountain Aviation will be coming to talk about the new FBO. This is a chance for all of us to meet him and have some questions answered first hand!

What you saw going on was press rides for Travis Air Expo. I don't believe anyone was doing loop or any aerobatics over browns valley. There was local FAA officials watching to make sure the pilots where following the rules. This was a one time thing to promote the afb airshow. From all that fly I apologies for the inconvenience.

91.119 Minimum safe altitudes: General.

Except when necessary for takeoff or landing, no person may operate an aircraft below the following altitudes:

(a) Anywhere. An altitude allowing, if a power unit fails, an emergency landing without undue hazard to persons or property on the surface.

(b) Over congested areas. Over any congested area of a city, town, or settlement, or over any open air assembly of persons, an altitude of 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle within a horizontal radius of 2,000 feet of the aircraft.

(c) Over other than congested areas. An altitude of 500 feet above the surface, except over open water or sparsely populated areas. In those cases, the aircraft may not be operated closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure.

(d) Helicopters. Helicopters may be operated at less than the minimums prescribed in paragraph (b) or (c) of this section if the operation is conducted without hazard to persons or property on the surface. In addition, each person operating a helicopter shall comply with any routes or altitudes specifically prescribed for helicopters by the Administrator.

I hope this helps.... During some operations at airports, noise levels do increase due to high traffic or events. The rules are not discontinued during such events unless special authorization is received. I do not believe any special authorization was received for the staging event that took place last Friday for the Travis AFB Air Expo. Pilots at the Nut Tree Airport always try to avoid causing undue noise while operating aircraft. Some of the common noise control practices used at the Nut Tree Airport are, avoiding turns under 800 ft AGL , avoiding power settings that would cause excessive noise, keeping take-off and landing manuevers within the pattern area of the airport. Some aircraft must extend the "traffic area" due to their speed or flight limitations. We realize noise is a sensitive issue and we are interested in promoting neighbor friendly flight practices at all times. Let us know what we can do to help with this issue. Come to our Pilot Association meetings and talk with the pilots direct. Our next meeting is September 4, 2008, 6:30pm, Nut Tree Airport County Building.

What are the rules for planes flying over the Browns Valley Development? I live there and today at 7:30AM a plane kept doing loops and aerial maneuvers right over us and at a very low altitude. It was extremely loud and I could not find a number to call to complain

Where was SPA? Last night was a showing of support for George Atondo at the Fairfield Courthouse. 20 supporters showed up, where were the 90 strong SPA members?
